When XPLANE started working with New Seasons Market, a fast-growing west coast grocer and B-corp success story, their strong identity was trapped in a tangle of what we call navigational statements: mission, values, secret sauce, pillars, strategic initiatives, etc. While guiding New Seasons through their 2015 strategic visioning, we took the opportunity to clarify and simplify these proclamations—all of which were true but together were redundant and confusing. It sounds fancy, but after a one-day simplification analysis we could see a way to elevate what is true about New Seasons and sweep away all the noise that was obscuring that truth. The leadership team and staff were so happy with the resulting visual that we surprised them with a woodcut installation for their corporate headquarters. From the looks on their faces, it's clear this has been a great partnership.
